Team Awards

Thank you to all of the teams who make the BP MS 150 the largest fundraiser for persons living with MS in the world; your impact is truly felt by everyone affected by multiple sclerosis.  Thank you to all teams, captains, volunteers, participants, sponsors and donors for your ongoing support in our shared journey for a world free of MS.

Green Team Award
This team demonstrates the greatest commitment to the environment: recycling, carpooling and more.

Most Spirited Team
This team demonstrates excitement, dedication and fundraising during training series, at events and on the weekend of the BP MS 150.

Best Team Promoting the Mission
This team demonstrates what it means to be dedicated to a world free of MS.

Rookie Team Captain
This team captain gets it from day one: Fun, organization, sponsorship, volunteering and fundraising. They fuel the movement for a world free of MS; vision, desire, blood sweat and tears matter.

Veteran Team Captain
This award is for a key individual who puts it all on the line and advocates daily for MS. This award is a cumulative recognition of outstanding performance in one of the most important volunteer positions in the Society. This person has it all: safety, sponsorship, fundraising, volunteerism, guts.

Best Dressed:
This team has to look good, whether it’s jerseys, shorts, socks, costumes or volunteer T-shirts. All-in-all, this team has the whole package.

Best Jersey Promoting the Mission:
This jersey makes it clear: This team is dedicated to helping persons with MS.

Best Corporate Jersey:
This award is for those who battle the competition as well as corporate branding regulations. This is for the best designer who has to color within the lines.

Most Creative Jersey:
This jersey is the most original and creative.

NOW/ Believe/ Moving Forward Award:
This team is in the zone this year, with everything is working and all members committed to the mission. History and fundraising play large roles, with the most important focus on the mission.

Most Inproved Fundraising Team - more than 100 riders

Most Improved Fundraising Team – less than 100 riders

Highest Average Per Rider – overall

Team Safety Award

These are the guidelines for the 2010 Team Safety Award. The Team Captain must apply for the award via an electronic survey distributed in April. The Captain will need to provide basic information about safety training events, dates, and qualifications of League Cycling Instructors and Ride Marshals when applying for the award.

To be eligible for the entry level bronze award, the team captain must be committed to the intent of the NMSS Safety Pledge. The safety pledge is designed to clarify expectations of a safety conscious team. We ask that you honor the pledge to provide all participants, independent of whether they are on your team or others, with the safest of ride conditions and the best experience possible so as to ensure their future participation.

Bronze Award:

  • Team Captain agrees to Team Safety Pledge (as attached)
  • At least 50% of the team riders must have completed either the online Safety Zone Quiz, the League of American Bicyclists Online Bicycle Education Course or a “Hands-On” Bike Skills/Bike Safety training class
  • Comply with Ride Marshal Policy (at least 1 Ride Marshal per 50 riders)
  • Teams of 200 riders or less must not have more than two (2) reported safety infractions during the ride; larger teams must not have more than one reported safety infraction per 100 riders for teams (rounding up)

Silver Award:

  • Bronze requirements, plus
  • At least 50% of team riders must have completed the online Safety Zone Quiz
  • 1 Ride Marshal regardless of team size (only applicable to teams less than 50 riders)
  • At least 50% of team riders must have completed a “Hands-On” Bike Skills/Bike Safety training class within the past 3 years

Gold Award:

  • Silver requirements, plus
  • At least 80% of team riders must have completed the online Safety Zone Quiz
  • At least 1 League Certified Instructor on the team
  • At least 80% of team riders must have completed a “Hands-On” Bike Skills/Bike Safety training class within the past 3 years

Platinum Award *:

  • Awarded by the Safety Committee for Excellence in Bicycle Safety and Outstanding Contributions to the Bicycling Community.

Anchor

  • I pledge that all of the information submitted with the Team Safety Award is accurate to the best of my knowledge.
  • I pledge that I will promote cycling safety to my team through all available avenues.
  • I pledge to utilize the Group Riding Skills cycling education program specifically designed for the National MS Society by the League of American Bicyclists and administered by their League Certified Instructors or an equivalent program using a qualified cycling coach.
  • I pledge to encourage one or more of our team members become a League of American Bicyclists League Certified Instructor by May 15, 2010.
  • I pledge to educate my team members that cycling safety and fundraising are equally important to the success of the BP MS 150.
  • I pledge to utilize all cycling safety resources the National MS Society provides.
  • I pledge to promote the Bicycle Safety Inspection program sponsored by the National MS Society and offered at BP MS 150 Official Bike Stores.
